Born in Toronto in 1957 under the name Metro Sportswear, the company changed it in 1985 to Snow Goose, and finally in the 90's the brand settled on what we all now know as Canada Goose. Originally a manufacturer of insulated wool-based products, in the 1970's Canada Goose dove into the production of down winter jackets for men and women. Having a large portion of their clientele located in Northern Canada and other frigid environments, the brand has a background in creating insulated pieces, like the Expedition Parka, that can withstand any cold climate. Police officers, construction workers and cameramen and actors/actresses from Hollywood all swear by Canada Goose when working in the North.
The classic down jacket models will be timeless: Trillium, Chilliwack, Kensington, Montebello, Chateau, Borden Bomber, and Hybridge jacket, are just the tip of the iceberg. They have also expanded into accessories such as down-filled gloves for men and women and down-filled mitts for men and women. Another huge success was their line of beanies and pilot hats for men and women.
Today Canada Goose is one of the biggest producers of insulated down jackets in the world, being distributed in over 40 countries, and the jackets are still proudly made in Canada. In an age where production is being outsourced to keep prices down, Canada Goose has firmly planted its roots in our fine nation.
Snug & Form Fitted! I bought my Carson Canada Goose Parka almost a month ago. Its snug & form fitted which I enjoy rather than the baggy parka look. The hood has a detachable zipper to remove the fur but I prefer keeping it on, keeps both my neck and ears warm without having to pull up the hood all the way. Pockets are functional but best of all, I can get away with just a tee and/or long sleeve shirt on underneath and feel warm in 20 degrees. Thats because the style of the Carson is snug and form fitted!
You Get What You Pay ForFew items on sale in this day and age are made with the care and attention to detail with which this jacket are made. Not only that, but the jacket is designed and manufactured in Canada, using Canadian materials and expertise. I do not think the importance of supporting a company such as this can be overstated.Spend your money wisely - consider cost per wear, not just the initial purchase price; consider where the item was made; and consider the kind of business model you wish to support with your hard-earned money. If you consider these factors, you should arrive at the conclusion that this jacket is a wise investment. If not, you are missing out because this is a beautiful product.
Love it! I love this coat. It's really warm and cozy, but not as bulky as the Expedition. Ordered it and it came the next day, so great service.
